Mount Shishapangma is the youngest mountain among the 8000m high Himalayas in the World. It was first climbed by three British climbers Doug Scott, Alex Macintyre and Roger and Baxter Jones 20 years ago. Many climbers are following the same routes as yet while climbing on this mountain however, they also use their own different route.
From Kathmandu, you can reach the Nepal-Tibet boarder by minibus. After completing all of your visa procedure, on the same day you can reach Zhangmu for the night stay.
On the second day you can get to Nyalam. The next day you should take rest for acclimatization. Our staff will prepare the required gears for your further journey there.
After walking for 2 days from Nyalam now you can reach Shishapangma South Base camp. Again one day you should take some rest here for further acclimatization. Then after walking for two days from Base camp, you reach Advance Base Camp and this camp remains there until you finish your whole expedition.
Camp 1: 6400m. After the hard climbing you can reach Punngpa Ri which can be said the Camp 1. The surface is 55- 60 % vertical ice slope here. Sometimes it becomes very a hard situation here because of heavy snowfall with rocks for which you have to use helmet for the protection. From Base Camp, we should start to climb at about 2a.m.before the sunrise to ensure a safe passage through the snowfall accompanied by rocks.
Camp 2. 7000m. After many hours of steady climbing, you reach behind the second narrow rocky tower, which can be called camp 2 for your rest. This camp is situated in a bit dangerous place because it is under a serac. So it is up to you whether or not you fix your camp or choose to go further ahead.
Camp 03 –7500m. From Camp 2 it is very easy to climb to reach camp 3 which is approximately at the height of 7500m. If the day is clear and sunny, you can feel very warm there in spite of the fact that you are midst of a snowy mountain.
Summit day of South Face of Shishapangma
From here in the middle of the night, you should start the climbing and by the morning you can reach the summit. This day is little bit difficult than the previous two days however you will ha an exotic experience. There are many glaciers on your way. After reaching the TOP, you also feel very romantic and happy by looking down the enchanted and enthralling scenes around the places.
Shishapangma is centrally located in the Himalayan range as the best place of the world. The Annapurna & Manaslu are located on its west, The Juggle, Langtang, Ganesh Himal on the South, Cho Oyu, Everest and Makalu on the East and the vast Tibetan plateau. The holy Mount Kailash is situated parallelly on its North. Shishapangma climbing is really a magnificent and wonderful experience whose reminiscences will remain ever indelible in your mind. On your way back, you are suggested to descend via your own previous climbing routes.
