Mount Kailash & Mansarover Inner Kora Yatra

Kailash Inner Cora Tour

Full moon night in Manasarovar Lake on 09 June 2017 (Purnima)

Lhasa, the capital of Tibet is a beautiful city lying at an altitude of 3650 meters above the sea level. Lhasa consists of beautiful houses, the ancient Potala Palace, Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery, Jokhang Temple and the Norbulunka. It is the second most populous city on the Tibetan plateau with the interesting lifestyle and culture of the local people.

It takes two hour flight via China Southwest Airlines to reach Gonggar Airport at Lhasa from Kathmandu. The view of the Himalayan ranges including the highest peak of the world Mount Everest is clearly visible being on the flight. Our escorts will handle all the immigration and custom formalities at the Airport and you will be taken to the hotel for night stay with two hour drive (about 93km) from Airport. If you spend your following two days in sightseeing of the beautiful Lasha Bazaar, it will be easier for you to adapt on the climate, temperature and altitude of Tibet.

After that you will be carving your trip to the Holy Moutain Kailash. You'll get to view the exclusive settings of Tibetan Highlands and the Yarlung Tsangpo river valley on the way. After reaching the holy Kailash Parbat, you will be taken to visit the sacred Mansarovar Lake lying about 15 meters below the Kailash. If some of you cannot continue your journey you can also return back rotating the ‘Yamadwar’, (Gate of Heaven) in the beginning point of the trek. It takes three days to do the Kailash Kora (Kailash Circumambulation), which will be our ultimate achievement. Then you will be driven back to the Miteri Bridge (Friendship Bridge) from where you will have a coach ride back to Kathmandu. This is how our holy trip will be over.

Kailash-The Mysterious Holy Peak; Mt. Kailash (6714m), which is considered to be the sacred abode of Lord Shiva and Parvati by Hindus, is often venerated by Buddhist, Jains and the Bonpo: Tibetan indigenous religion. All the Tibetans call it as “Jewel of Snow” Buddhist cosmography identifies Kailash with the mighty Mount Sumeru as the exact center of the entire universe. Jains believe it as a place where their fist saint attained Liberation. Tibetan people consider it as a soul of the universe and assure their perpetuity and protection.

Literally meaning the lake of consciousness Kailash is famous for its four sheer wall shaped appearance like that of a handle of a millstone. Ancient scriptures relate this mountain with Mount Meru with its four faces made of four different Jewels (gold, crystal, Rubi, and lapis lazuli). It is a mother to the prominent river of Asia namely, The Brahmaputra, The Indus, The Ganges and The Sutlej as it is source to them. One can see the Buddhist ‘Swastika’ symbol in its southern side. It is believed to be the meditating area of Lord Buddha through which he obtained the knowledge and wisdom. With the symbol of Buddhist symbol called Swastika, this is the holiest mountain of all.

Saptarishi cave: Early in the morning start walking from Darchen to Serlung Gompa. Once we reach Serlung Gompa, in the next 10 minutes walk, we reach Astapad. There we see the Astapad, a spectacular mountain amphitheatre at the base of Mount Kailash. Walk to Sapta Rishi cave, Darshan Atmalingam, visit Saptarishi cave & Darshan Saptarishi Cave. Nandi Kora is not easy; we need to be very fit for walking & rock climbing near the Sapt Rishi cave. Here we can see Saptrishi cave and 13 Chhurten. After the 10 minutes climb up and then can see Sardung Chuksum La pass 5858m. We need mountain guides for this trip and they will put rope and carry some emergency oxygen for the Yatri / travelers. You will feel easy for doing this trip with professional mountain guides. After the Nandi Kora, we will return to Serlung Gompa and then continue to Darchen to spend the night. Serlung Gompa -Saptarishi Cave/ Atma Lingam / Nandi Parikarma is 13 kilometers far. As described in the Hindu myth, a person who moves around the Kailash Parbat, we will be free from all the sins committed in life. It is believed that if they move round the Parbat for 108 times, they directly get Nirvana. It is also said a person who moves Nandi once, gets an equal fruit of rotating the Kailash for 13 times.

Lake Manasarovar; Located 15 meters below the holy Kailash Parbat, the most sacred Lake Mansarovar is situated at an elevation of 4580 meters from the sea level. Literally the meaning of Mansarovar is the consciousness of mind. This lake has log religious and spiritual connection to Both Hindus and Buddhists. One dip into the cold water of this lake is considered as the holiest thing to do which takes the person in the dwelling of lord Shiva after death. Whereas the holy bath and rotation of the gigantic lake is believed to rinse of the sins of 100 death with the reward of Salvation (an escape from the cycle of Birth-death-rebirth of the monstrous life. Hence every individual dream to visit this holy place at least once in their life time. If you dream for same then Monterosa is here to make your dream come true as it organizes the holy trip every year. Please allow us to serve you. OM Namoh Siwayea.
