Kailash-The Mysterious Holy Peak: The most sacred Peak of Asia as believed by Hindus and Buddhist, Mount Kailash is situated at an altitude of 6714 meters from the sea level. Some call it Kang Rimpoche, Some as Meru Parvat or Sumeru Parvat and some as Asthapada. Manasarovar is described to be the source of knowledge and wisdom by Buddhist people. As the sacred abode of the gods and goddesses it is considered as the exact center of the entire universe. The mountain is also famous for its unique four-faced shape appearance like that of a handle of a millstone. A sacred Buddhist symbol ‘Swastika’ is formed by the cleft on its southern side intersected by a series of rocks. This Jewel of Snow has been described as a mountain, lying in the Himalayan range, with its four faces made of four different jewels (gold, crystal, ruby and lapis lazuli), where gods resided and from where four great rivers namely The Brahmaputra, The Indus, The Ganges and The Sutlej originated. It is a mother to these prominent rivers.

Thousands of devotes of four different Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Bonpo (indigenous Tibetan religion) come to visit this holy abode of lord Shiva in order to cleanse of from all the sins committed knowingly or unknowingly in the life and to attain ultimate Salvation called “Mokshya”.

Lake Manasarovar comprised of two Sanskrit words Manas and Sarovar, it is the source of enlightenment for Buddhist. Hindus believe it as a bathing lake of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The gigantic lake situated at an elevation of 4580 meters holds age long religious and spiritual significance to both Hindus and Buddhist. Circumambulating the Lake is believed to be the way of carving the straight path to Heaven. Also people believe that if one drinks the water of the lake and take dip in its cold water will be purge from sins of 100 births. The view of high lamas and monks praying, chanting and dipping into the lake inspires other devotees to continue their journey though it is a difficult procedure. People from across the world aspire to visit Mount Kailash and Mansarovar at least once in their life time. Monterosa organizes the holy trip every year.
