Compiled of two Sanskrit words, “Manas”: means mind or consciousness and “Sarovar”: means Lake, this Mansarovar Lake (4580 meters) has a deep spiritual influence for both the Hindus and Buddhist. In Hinduism, this lake is a personification of purity. Ancient legends claim that one who drinks water from the lake is cleansed of all sins committed over even hundred lifetimes and will ultimately go to the abode of Shiva after death. Buddhist believes that lord Buddha stayed and meditated near this lake to obtain knowledge. As Mecca to Muslims and church to Christians so are the Kailash and Mansarovar to Hindus. This jewel of Tibet is believed to be the ‘Source of Enlightenment’. Ancient creed reveals that one can escape from the chain of this mortal life and obtain everlasting bliss in heaven even by a single douche into this lake. It takes three full days just to circumambulate the periphery of this mighty lake. The eternal limpid blue to emerald green colors of the lake with the simmering ripples and the Silver Mountains beyond grip the visitors with an indelible memory for life.
